In 1942 Grover Baines graduated from Grambling University with a B.S. in Earth Science, majoring in meteorology. As a paratrooper with the Army Air Corps during World War II, Baines was among the most highly decorated black soldiers of the war.
After the war Baines became a licensed civil pilot and went to work for Blackhawk Airways, where he served as both pilot and expert radio operator.
Grover Baines recently was dismissed from Blackhawk Express. He resides in Westport, Connecticut.
