Issue No. 75

April, 1954

The Flying Cannon: (Cover Story) A gigantic flying cannon (resembling a Flash Gordon rocket ship) is built in one Eastern European country to wreck havoc on an adjacent democracy. All the Blackhawks are captured except Blackhawk himself, who escapes to befriend a wounded black hawk named Jet (who later evolves into Blackie). Blackhawk rescues his companions, lands a helicopter on the wing of the cannon, and, with Jet's help, succeeds in destroying the machine.

Blind Victory: Communists lure the Blackhawks into a trap using Hendrickson's father, believed to have died in a Nazi concentration camp, as bait. The Blackhawks are captured but Blackhawk himself is left behind to perish, as he is believed to have been blinded by a gun flash near his face. Blackhawk reminds himself that "I'm Blackhawk", and manages to rescue his team even before he regains his eyesight. Hendrickson's father dies in the final fracas.

The Z Bomb Menace: An evil scientist invents a bomb capable of jarring the earth off its axis. The Blackhawks capture the scientist after the bomb is set, but Blackhawk somehow manages to minimize the extent of the blast by singing the bomb with his jet.
