Issue No. 96

January 1956

7 Graves for 7 Blackhawks: The country of Drozh is taken over by a beautiful red agent named Furia. She captures all the Black Knights except Blackhawk and Chop-Chop. The captured Blackhawks are forced to dig graves for them selves and their missing team-mates. Blackhawk and Chop-Chop hide in the graves and then take over a tank and rescue the other guys and capture Furia.

Rescue from the Sky: A non-Blackhawk story about airborne firefighters. The story mentions several methods, including smoke jumpers, but focuses on a pilot who crashes his plane into a dam to release the water and put out a forest fire (probably not the prefered method of the Forest Service).

Case of the Missing Blackhawk: Andre is testing a new French jet aircraft when it crashes, the result of sabotage. The grief stricken team vows to avenge the death of Andre and track the bomb back to the owner of the aircraft factory, a beautiful woman, and the manager, a mad with the standard sinister goatee beard. The gimmick is that Andre survived the crash and is posing as the manager to trap the beautiful Red agent.

Doom in the Deep: Recycling the setup from the previous story, the team is testing a new submarine, the Sea Hawk, which has been sabotaged by Red agents. They are trapped on the ocean floor, too deep for any other vessel to reach, except -- the Reds had already stolen the plans to the Sea Hawk and built their own copy of it. The Blackhawks broadcast a message saying they have discovered the most powerful force on Earth in the deep ocean trench. Naturally the greedy Reds send their sub to get it. The Blackhawks capture the Red sub and everything is fine.
