Issue No. 269

April 1984

Changes: Blackhawk makes his way out of Germany after failing to kill Hitler (see issue 267). Hitler sends his newest agent, General Haifisch, code name Killer Shark, to destroy the French town of La Resistance, which has become a symbol of the fight against the Nazis. Hitler tries to persuade Franco to join him against the Allies (we finally learn why the War Wheel was in Spain, to demonstrate Germany's power to Franco, see issue 263). The Blackhawks have reinforced the defenders of La Resistance and Gaynor is assuming command in Blackhawk's absence, and Stanislaus is letting him get away with it. Gaynor volunteers to stay and guard German prisoners while the rest of the team returns to Blackhawk Island. After they leave, he machine guns the prisoners. Blackhawk seeks the aid of Helga for shelter while he finds a way to escape Germany. He takes the place of a Spanish general who had been executed by Hitler and hides in his coffin. Back in La Resistance, the Black Knights are having a tough time against Killer Shark and Chuck discovers that Gaynor massacred the prisoners. Helga is taken by the Gestapo and put into training for a new role.
