The lantern-jawed Olaf is a savant with languages (he speaks 19, four fluently) and studied linquistics at the University of Tromsø. He worked his way through college performing as a circus acrobat. When the Nazis invaded and occupied Norway, Olaf escaped to England. There, he joined the British Royal Air Force. Indulging a childhood fascination with aircraft, he was a quick study and was soon an expert pilot. As a sidelight of his interest in languages, he also became quite skilled at radio operations. Olaf left the RAF to join the Blackhawks, where he felt he could more directly strike back at the invaders of his homeland.
