Issue No. 81

October 1954

The Monster Dynamo: Eric von Ackheim, a Nazi scientist who the Blackhawks thought they had killed in WW II comes back with a flying dynamo that blasts cities and everything in its path with bolts of electricity. The team uses a new allied invention, the Electical Brain (sort of a walking computer equipped with a gamma ray blaster), against the dynamo and does some damage but fails to stop it. The team leads the dynamo over water which grounds it and Von Ackheim dies in the explosion.

Chop-Chop: Chop-Chop becomes involved in the politics of a banana republic, which gives the writers a chance to use racist Latin stereotypes as well as Chinese.

The Sea Monsters of Killer Shark!: Giant saw fish and electric eels are attacking ships. Of course, they are mechanical creatures under the control of Killer Shark, just escaped from prison. Killer Shark's flying manta ray destroys Blackhawk's jet and he is captured and thrown into a tank with a real sword fish. Blackhawk escapes and with Chop-Chop's help they warn the rest of the team about Killer Shark's attack on a shipment of gold. To bad this wasn't the cover story.

The Flying Flat-top: Peaceful Ruragonia has built a new defensive weapon, a flying aircraft carrier with a complement of jet fighters. The flying flat-top is stolen by a would-be dictator who has taken his vague resemblance to Satan to heart. He paints the bottom of the flying flat-top with a devil's face and terrorizes the country. The team descends onto the carrier from a blimp and defeats Satan.
