Issue No. 186

July 1963

The Super Blackhawks of the Secret Dimension: The sequel to "The Last Days of the Seven Blackhawks" --- on Earth, Blackhawk, Andre, Olaf and Stan continue on as the four Blackhawks, fighting an old foe, the Hoopster. In the secret dimension, Chuck, Hendy and Chop-Chop have also started new lives, as super powered crime fighters. Dirg tries to cut a deal for the secret formula for the travel belt, but the three Blackhawks say no. They help the local police fight the Mind-master, who's mind control powers turns them against each other. They eventually overcome him and use his mind reading helmet to learn the location of the formula from Dirg. Back on Earth, the Hoopster has captured the Blackhawks and is about to finish them off when a monster attacks him. Of course, it's an illusion created by the Mind-master's helmet used by the three returned team members. This was a decent story and, to the best of my knowledge, one of the first multiple issue story arcs in a period when three stories per issue was standard, at least at DC.

The Riddle of the Four Clues: Zinda Blake on vacation in France sees a man kidnapped off her train. She pursues as Lady Blackhawk and rescues the man and his pouch which contains four clues to some sort of crime. She sends the clues to the Blackhawks, who along with competing gangs with their own sets of clues, search for a hidden treasure. They all come together in the end and solve the riddle.
