The Menace of the Flame Planes - A shady character named Garrote befriends the out-of-work TransIsland Airways owner, John Reefe. They agree to become partners in the company if Garrote can bring Reefe the plans and specifications to the Blackhawk planes. Garrote pretends to be shipwrecked along Blackhawk Island when Olaf and Chuck save him from drowning. On the island, Garrote now has the means to steal the plans.
